Work: Candle Holder

This candle holder has been imagined as a bust illuminated by the candles placed on its back.
As the candles slowly melt and disappear, their glow draws closer to the face, filling it with light and bringing it to life.
This bust was born from two heads: mine and my cousin Francisco Mourão. We follow each other’s work closely, and the desire to collaborate on a project has been with us for several years.
This piece came about after several coffee chats, drawings, and ideas exchanges that traveled between New York and Porto, the city where @moraoworks workshop is based.
