vicara art residence
Viana do Alento
date:2023
In the spring of 2023, I painted these pieces at the Agostinhos workshops in Viana do Alentejo, Portugal, as part of an artist's residency organized by Vicara, to whom I am grateful for the invitation.
I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the beauty, peace, and rhythm of the Alentejo and taste its gastronomic delicacies.
During the residency, I was lucky to spend time with Corleone, Kruella, Bernardo Carvalho, and Margo, whose work has inspired me for over a decade. Getting to know them on a deeper level was a true privilege.
Throughout the week, I painted freely on wonderful pieces created and produced by the Agostinhos masters, two generations of artisans with enormous knowledge, talent, and heart. If you ever find yourself in the Alentejo region, be sure to visit the workshop to witness their incredible craftsmanship and artistic heritage.
The photos were taken by Estudio Mutante, founded by old and talented friends and I would like to thank them for capturing these pieces so well.
Last but not least, a big thanks to Xano, João, Grecio, Kruella, and Sara for their unequaled help.
